Privacy policy

Last updated: 3 May 2026.

Quick version

Your scans stay on your device. Brocco doesn't track you, doesn't sell your data, doesn't have user accounts, and doesn't run AI on what you eat. We're an Australian app and follow the Australian Privacy Act 1988. The protections here apply to all users globally.

What we collect

Your scans, history, and favourites stay on your iPhone using Apple's local storage. We don't upload them. To run the app we use a few trusted third-party services for crash reporting, subscription handling, and form submissions — they receive limited, non-personal data (like crash diagnostics or anonymous purchase events) as described in their own privacy policies. None of them see your scan history or any identifier we could link back to you. Some of these services are based in the United States or European Union; by using Brocco you consent to that processing.

Where the food data comes from

Product information comes from Open Food Facts, a community-maintained public database. When you scan a barcode, Brocco asks them for that product — they see the barcode and a generic Brocco User-Agent, nothing more.

Subscriptions

If you subscribe, Apple handles billing. We may share subscription activity with Apple to process renewals and refunds. Manage or cancel anytime via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone.

This website

getbrocco.com uses no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels.

Children

Brocco is rated 4+ on the App Store but designed for adults shopping for groceries. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Your rights and complaints

Because nothing personal is stored on our servers, uninstalling the app removes everything. If you have a subscription, billing data lives with Apple. Where applicable laws give you additional rights — access, correction, erasure, objection, portability — email us and we'll help. If you believe we've mishandled your information, contact us first; if you're not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or the equivalent privacy regulator in your country.

Updates and contact

If this policy materially changes, we'll update the date at the top. Questions or requests: support@getbrocco.com.
